The reason I did this series for this specific summer is because this was the summer coming out of my first year at Ryerson University. For those who don’t know, I was taking Photographic Studies but the more I treated my photography like work, the more I fell out of love with it. This summer changed that. Summer has always meant a lot to me and some of my happiest memories are from summers past, not having any responsibility or a single care in the world. Freedom. After high school I thought those days were gone. I knew I had to work during the summer to make money for school so I figured that summer would never be the same. I wasn’t completely wrong. Summer might never be the same as it once was but that doesn’t mean it can’t mean something. Summer 2017 showed me that my youth isn’t completely dead, and I have my whole life ahead of me. Was it the best summer of my life? No, probably not. But that doesn’t matter.
